Tesla Megapack 2 (2-Hour) is a utility-scale battery energy storage system supplied as an AC block with 2.5952 MWh nominal energy. It supports 2 and 4 hour configurations and has 92% AC round-trip efficiency.
Use Cases
Tesla Megapack 2 (2-Hour) has energy capacity in the utility-scale class. Its supported protocols include DNP3, used in utility control systems, and together point to use in front of the meter.
Capabilities
Tesla Megapack 2 (2-Hour)'s shortest listed configuration is 2 h, which points to peak shaving, reducing the peak load at the connection point; the specifications suggest grid services, support for the operation of the electricity network. Configurations listed up to 4 h make Tesla Megapack 2 (2-Hour) a candidate for energy shifting, taking in power and returning it hours later. Its longest listed configuration is 4 h, which points to capacity value, standing in as firm capacity when demand peaks. Its AC block includes the inverter, which points to renewable colocation, storing output from a wind or solar plant on the same site.

Plant Round-Trip Efficiency
The calculator estimates the full "plant" round-trip efficiency (RTE) at the point of interconnection. Some values are pre-blocked depending on information on a particular ESS. The rows that are marked "each way" are one-way efficiencies; they are applied on charge and again on discharge. We then square them. To enter a bundled PCS efficiency value, use its rated-power value, not peak. If the PCS skid already includes the LV/MV transformer, set Transformer LV/MV to 100 % so those losses are not counted twice.
Site Space Required
Shared: one 3 m aisle serves both neighbours. Dedicated: each unit keeps its own 3 m, so gaps double to 6 m.
Single unit — matches the stored area_sqm convention.
